W. Dan Largent 1954 - 2019

Wayne Daniel Largent, “Dan” was born 17 Dec 1954, the fourth child of Wayne and Rozella (Mathison) Largent of Winchester.  He attended school there until midway through the sixth grade when consolidation took him to Highland.  His gregarious and fun loving nature made that an easy transition. The Christmas when he was about 14 his father bought him a motorcycle that he wore out on the streets and forests surrounding Winchester.  Dirt biking became a favorite pass time as he wore out several other machines in his lifetime.  In jr. high and high school he spent a lot of time with cousins Terry, Rick, Sharon, and Todd Largent who became almost like siblings.  He was graduated from Highland High School in 1973 and looked back on his high school years with great fondness.

After high school he worked at several jobs temporarily and then worked as a pile buck (on the underwater portions of bridges) for a few years.  By 1980 he discovered he could support himself as a professional poker player.  He also managed Rolling Hills Trailer Court from 1999 through 2017.

Substance abuse (mostly alcohol) got worse through the years leading him to isolate himself from family and friends.  While he could give up alcohol for months, he kept returning to it.  He fatally shot himself on 8 Jan 2019 outside his home in Moscow.

He was preceded in death by his sister Kay in 1961, his mother in 1981, and his father in 1998.  He is survived by his sister Karen Eldridge of East Wenatchee, WA, his brother Steve Largent of Boise, ID, his nephew Mark Eldridge of East Wenatchee, WA, and his nephew Troy Eldridge of Post Falls, ID.  Cremation was done by Shorts Funeral Home in Moscow.

A memorial service was conducted by Pastor Larry Veith at the Grace Community Church 305 4th St. Potlatch Idaho at 11:00 on 14 Jan 2019.  A lunch was provided afterward by the church.
